Esma Jane Weathers thought she was escaping scandal when she checked into Talbot House, a quaint seaside B&B perched above the windswept cliffs of Talbot-on-Bluff. Armed with a battered easel, a chipped mug of optimism, and no actual painting skill, she planned to embrace a quiet sabbatical far from the courtroom—and even farther from the headlines.

But when a local woman turns up dead in the B&B’s dusty séance room and a second body is discovered on the beach below, Esma finds herself drawn into the kind of case she thought she’d left behind—only this time, without a robe or a barrister’s wig.

Surrounded by secretive villagers, feuding craft circles, an increasingly judgmental aunt, and one very persistent puppy, Esma will need to sharpen her instincts (and dull her panic) if she’s going to uncover the truth. Talbot-on-Bluff may be picture-postcard perfect, but beneath the seagull-laced skies, something far more sinister is brewing.
